China National Offshore Oil Corporation has made a breakthrough in the exploration of the Paleozoic basement in the Beibu Gulf Basin.
The Weizhou 10-5 oil and gas field is located in the Beibu Gulf, with an average water depth of approximately 37 meters. The exploration well encountered an oil and gas layer at a depth of 283 meters and was completed at a depth of about 4,840 meters. After testing, the well produced approximately 13.2 million cubic feet of natural gas and about 800 barrels of crude oil per day, marking a significant breakthrough in the exploration of granite basement natural gas in the Beibu Gulf Basin.

The Weixiannan Depression in the Beibu Gulf Basin is one of the most explored depressions in China's offshore areas. In recent years, CNOOC has intensified its research on the complex paleo-mountain reservoir formation theory and key technology breakthroughs, achieving a breakthrough in the exploration of Paleozoic granite paleo-mountain. This not only demonstrates the broad exploration prospects of the paleo-mountain area in the Beibu Gulf Basin, but also has significant guiding significance for the exploration of similar areas in China's offshore regions.
In recent years, CNOOC has made large and medium-sized oil and gas discoveries of various types of buried hills in multiple sea areas of China, further strengthening the foundation of oil and gas resources. This exploration discovery in the Beibu Gulf Basin will help ensure the stable supply of oil and gas resources and continuously contribute to economic and social development.
